PostSubject: matted eyes   23rd January 2012, 7:26 pm

One of the kids in my swine group bought a hog yesterday, and tonight when they went out to feed his eyes were matted closed. They took a warm rag and cleaned it up, but there seems to be a milky liquid. Does anyone have any ideas of what it could be, and what some possible solutions would be? Thanks!

Is it on shavings?

Have you tried putting some salt in that water to clean the eyes?

No, it has straw. Salt will get rid of it?

it won't get rid of it but will help, can you guys get your hands on the vetericyn spray for the eye

I don't think pigs can get pink eye, but how moldy does the straw look?

How was the pig trasported, did he get a lot of wind?

Do you think the pig could of stuck something in his eye?
