I have bred a york for early aug, for the gilts to compete in the purebred show at the Oklahoma Youth Expo, I know im putting the cart before the horse, but wondering where early aug male pigs might need to end up. (my luck, she wont have a single gilt)

Well i had a pretty nice blue butt litter that was born august 5th this last year. sold the gilts alright BUT the boars nope. ikept one back and held him just fine but the other 2 i took to the chandler ok sale barn and got 25.00 each for them. and they both weighted very well over 60 lbs. They was better pigs than what i got out of them. I had them priced to people for 75.00 and couldnt get them sold.

Majority of our litters are born in Aug. We have allways sold Aug. pigs well here in Central TX. Duncan sales alot of mid to late Aug. pigs, you could allways enter a few into the Fall Classic and sale the rest in the parking lot. There are tons of late Jan through mid Feb shows in Tx that this age will work for. Good luck with your litter.
