yup i know it is early since this lil guy was
just born this morning. this is the first duroc litter born here on my
place. I was just wondering what you all thought about him already.
thanks all. sorry guys the pic was takin in the house. the mother was
tryin to tear down the crate and she isnt milking at all and just wont
even let them try to nurse anyway. there was 12 in the hole litter, but
she had them while i was at the tax ladys office. i got home around 1 pm
went and checked on her and found 4 dead! i guess after she had them
she manges to get the front gate of the crate open just enough the
babies got out. 1 was dead in her sow feeder, the other 3 was dead
outside my barn, the other 8 was hiding under the crate. i took them in
and got them warmed up. 2 was still weak so i left them under the light a
lil longer. took the others outside and put them in her crate and she
had a cow. i have done everything and she just wil not take them. I have
some powered colostrum that i am feeding them know and so far even the
weak ones are walking around and playing. I have 2 boars and 6 gilts
left in this litter.

Looks like some very good looking durocs, a lot of bone too. You might want to try putting a couple of them in a little cage and sit them in front of the sow on one side. That way she can see them but not hurt them. I had a psycho York once and went crazy in the middle of farrowing 16 babies so I gave her bout 1cc of ace it calmed her down real good and she let her pigs nurse, when it wore off she was still a little jumpy, so I gave her a 1/4cc, when that wore off she was fine and raised 13 pigs.

You might want to give her a shot of oxytosin to see if it would help with the milk. You can also give her a 40 of some cheap malt liquor which will help to calm her down, and get yourself one to settle your nerves.
