Our Duroc gilt's back hoof is split along the outer side and her pad looks to be torn too the slit hoof looks like a hang nail what can I do about this cause we show on the 22nd of this month in a week. Thanks

is the show pig on dirt or concrete?

Concrete

throw in about 6 inches worth of shavings and the hoof will come around. Either that or put the pig on a dirt pen. Some pigs just cant take the concrete. We have concrete pens and this can be an issue sometimes, but an easy fix

Do I need to doctor in in any way what worries me is the part of the hoof thats split looks like a hang nail and it kinda sticks out.
