Well you have come to the right site. This site is filled with wonderful pig breeders who have tons of valuable information when it comes to everything you need to know get started showing and to become very successful in and out of the showring. I will start by saying the showing process is allways a learning process I been in and around the showring and hogbarn for 25 years now and with every year that passes I find myself learning new things about pigs and showing, take in all the advice you can and learn from every experience and allways be willing to learn more and more. We run a small showpig operation just south of Austin and have learned that the number 1 rule to start off is to find you a knowledgable trustworthy breeder that you can depend on to help you in any way and work hard for you to lead you in the right direction. With that said There is a very good hog breeder just northwest of the Houston area that I would reccommend getting in touch with. He has been involved with the showpig industry his entire life and is one the best at what he does which is judging hogs and helping youth reach theyre ultimate potential in the showring. He is well respected all over the nation. His name is Kelton Mason from Montgomery Tx. he has a website www.masonlivestock.com I would give him a ring and chat with him a bit and I am positive he will lead you in the right direction and it wont take long after talking with him that you will realize why he is so respected in this wonderful Industry. This is just to get you started I am positive that by the days end the wonderful members on this site will have given you alot of valuable information to get you off on the right track. Good Luck and welcome to the wonderful world of showpigs.

Best wishes Ty Clark owner of Lazy Oak Genetics www.lazyoakgenetics.com

Mason Livestock is a good place to look for in your area of Houston. sometimes all you have to do is pay atttention to other people and hear where they have been getting their show pigs in the past and listen to what impact they have produced and so on.. All it take is courage to ask some one never be afrraid to ask i have been in the show ring since i was a toldler.lol..and now as a father and a breeder i still ask around for some pointers in this industry every cent counts. in case you decide you want to travel a bit South you have ALOT more breeders that are welling to help you out for your first year with very nice hospitality..
Kyle: Lazy Oak Genetics, Jansen Farms
New Branfuels: Rory Duelms
just to name a few then furter down in the valley we have a couple of more breeders like G5 Farms , JH Ramirez & Family , My self Aguilar Show Pigs, Carter Farms.
But like i said all it takes is to ask the questions you are courious about and i hope you acccomplish what you are looking for and HAVE A GREAT YEAR Have Funn thats what it is all about.
