PostSubject: worst day ever   5th August 2010, 4:36 pm

Today my red belted gilt had her litter. well most of it anyway...... she has 7 now and then was what she had from noon to now! they are just so big. for one it started off bad her first one was a big one had to pull it and then like the rest of them was backwards and had to help pull them as well. she still has a few more pigs in her that i just cant pull. she has stoped pushing. My 4h leader was the one helping me and the one pulling the pigs. this gilt i thought was a pretty nice gilt but it looks like i am going to gt rid of her cuz i dont want to be pulling anymore pigs out of her. She may not have anymore trouble with her next litter but i rather not find out. if anybody wants her after she weans this litter let me know. Or if you have any opinon on what to do with her please let me know and what i did wrong? my york gilt her first litter she just spit em out fast then we could clean em off lol.

But anyway this gilt so far has been a very good mother taking care of and watching the pigs that are on her now. her sire in Invincible 74-1. I still think she is to good to let her go on the truck. but i am not going to lie. my 4h leader pulled her pig that she could and i just dont want to try to mess with it again.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Give her several days of penicillin until she passes the rest of the pigs if you cant get them out. We have had several 1st litters go the same way, breed back and never have trouble again. Good luck!
